Shakeology is NOT Expensive

Jan 4, 2011 Posted Under: Shakeology Read More

When you break it down per serving, Shakeology only costs $4.00 per shake ($3.00 if you sign up as a coach). $4.00 a day is nothing when you consider how much people spend on unhealthy beverages every day.

One shake a day could possibly change your health for the better… help lose weight, improve regularity, lower cholesterol, increase energy and supply your body with the vitamins and nutrients it needs to sustain itself. Plus Shakeology scores very low on the glycemic index.

Don’t believe me? Try it for 30 days risk free! If you don’t feel healthier, more energized, and simply amazing, you won’t pay. You can return Shakeology for any reason and get your money back (less s&h)—even if the bag is empty!

It’s success stories like these that make me proud to say that I am a Beachbody Coach. My passion is to help support the inherent, natural healing process that we all possess. I believe in Beachbody’s programs and I believe that Shakeology is the healthiest shake on the market today (and the most delicious!). These are not fad diets or exercise programs. 2011 Resolutions: Get Fit and Lose Weight

Dec 14, 2010 Posted Under: Shakeology Read More

My past couple of posts have been about the New Year’s resolution to get fit or get in shape. I wanted to add another to help support you in achieving your health goals in 2011. The focus of this post: Shakeology.

For over 10 years I have been interested in health and nutrition. While my formal training is in Massage and CranioSacral Therapy, I have done a lot of reading and learning about nutrition, supplementation and general wellness. For over a year and a half I have worked part time at a local health food store in the vitamin/supplement/body care department whose focus is to offer the best natural and organic products available.

During the 21 months I have been there, I have spent a lot of time learning even more about different supplements and their benefits. I have also tried a lot of different products to see how I felt when using them. Tablets, capsules, tinctures, and powders. Some of them were great, some were not … and most of the powders were disgusting!

After starting P90X I began to read about Shakeology. The ingredients impressed me: vitamins, minerals, prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, adaptogens, protein, antioxidants, and phytonutrients… all in one shake. The list includes numerous supplements that people ask for and that I recommend every day that I work.

I was very interested… but very hesitant.

I had yet to taste a supplement powder packed with this many nutrients that was actually enjoyable to drink. I knew the benefits of the 70+ ingredients, but if it was too disgusting to drink I wouldn’t use it. However, I figured it couldn’t be worse than some of the other mixes I had already tried, so I ordered some to put it to the taste test.

It was delicious!!! Seriously. I was pleasantly surprised.

Since then I have given some to other people to try as well. All of them have told me similar stories about trying awful tasting shakes, but then tried and loved Shakeology.

So how does this fit into your goals to get healthy, get in shape, and lose weight in 2011? Here’s a short clip from the Shakeology Website:

This patent-pending daily nutritional shake helps your body gently eliminate toxins more efficiently while allowing for better absorption of the essential nutrients you need. A proprietary blend of digestive enzymes and prebiotics helps your body progressively eliminate the toxins that build up over time from eating today’s highly processed foods.

At the same time, whole-food ingredients deliver the essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals your body needs to curb cravings, allowing your body to shed stored fat while the more than 20 different antioxidants and phytonutrients help reduce free radical damage that can lead to heart disease, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and stroke.

So, why Shakeology?

You get 17 grams of quality protein plus all the nutrients with only 140 calories. And you don’t have to buy take over 20 different pills every day. It costs less than a meal at a fast food restaurant and provides so much more nutrition. It fills you up and fuels your body. Pair up Shakeology with a solid exercise program and be prepared for dramatic changes in your health and wellness.

Shakeology Proven to Have Low Glycemic Index

Aug 13, 2010 Posted Under: Shakeology Read More

Taste the success. Shakeology® is officially certified on the low end of what’s already considered “low” on the Glycemic Index (GI). That’s a whole lotta low to love!

If you’re not familiar with the GI, it’s basically a scale of 1 to 100 that measures how much or how quickly a particular food causes your blood sugar to rise. The higher the number, the higher the blood sugar “spike,” and ultimately, the worse the crash. Type 2 diabetes can be a product of too many high-GI foods. So as you can see, this is serious business.

Anything lower than a 55 is considered low GI. Shakeology rang up a score of 24. That’s lower than most fruits and veggies, thanks in part to the fact that Shakeology uses naturally-occurring sugar rather than that high fructose corn syrup stuff made from genetically-modified corn.

To make things easy to understand, we put together a one-sheet that explains the GI, lists all the important facts, and shows how Shakeology measures up against other foods:

P90X: Day 56

Jun 28, 2010 Posted Under: P90X Read More

GREAT DAY!!

ANY CHARACTER HERE

Today I started week 9 of P90X. I have entered the third and final phase of my first round of the program … and I kicked ass today.

Week 9 Day 1 starts with Chest & Back followed by Ab Ripper X. Chest & Back is about 50 minutes of  push-ups and pull-ups with a few resistance band sets for the back. Yup. 50 minutes of push-ups and pull-ups. There are 6 different types of push-ups and 6 different back exercises.

I set a personal best today: 90 push ups during the workout.  It felt great to reach this number. I’m not sure if I’ve done 90 push-ups total in my life up to this point; never mind in just 50 minutes. Plus, 8 weeks ago when I started the program I had to finish this workout doing push-ups on my knees. Now, I’m close to 100 with my knees off the floor. I’m very impressed and proud of myself.

Nutrition could have been a little bit better today. I did start the day with a Greenberry Shakeology and ate every 2-3 hours, but the quantities of my main meals could have been a bit more. I guess I need to hit the grocery store so my kitchen is a little better stocked.

Tomorrow: Plyometrics

P90X: Day 55

Jun 27, 2010 Posted Under: P90X, Shakeology Read More
Today was my last day of week 8 of the P90X classic version.  I can’t believe I only have 5 weeks left of round 1.  Yes, “round 1″. I am already planning on doing a second round. I see this program as being more than a simple 90 day quick fix to my health. I have seen tremendous improvement in my strength, flexibility, core stability and cardiovascular health, and I am very proud of myself; but I still have a ways to go to meet all my goals.

Week 8, day 7 was scheduled to be X Stretch. I decided to do Cardio X instead. I have been loving the cardio workouts in this program. Kenpo X is still my favorite; but I enjoy how Cardio X blends yoga, kenpo, plyometrics and core. It’s a great overall cardio workout in about 45 minutes.

Today was also my third day using Shakeology. Today’s recipe was chocolate Shakeology with peanut butter and a banana.  I discovered that yes, indeed, adding ice makes for a much more delicious shake.

I didn’t have any ice the first day I tried the Chocolate shake. So, I picked up a cheap ice tray at the grocery store. I wasn’t thrilled that this was my only option, as I had a vision of a more traditional ice tray. I was even thinking of one of those ice trays with the sliding cover so I could still stack things on top of it in the freezer. But alas, this was all the grocery store had:

My new ice tray

I was slightly disappointed, but I knew ice would make all the difference with my shake the next day. So, the tray was only a couple of bucks and I figured I could live with it for a while.

My New Ice Tray

Wouldn’t you know it, I love my new ice tray. Yup. Love it. The tiny “party cubes” (as they were described on the package) are perfect for throwing into the blender with my shake. I throw in a handful and they chop up quickly and easily, blending smoothly.  Plus, they are kind of cute; and who doesn’t like cute ice cubes?

So, I am ready for my final stretch of round 1. I predict a lot of push-ups and pull-ups in my future. And I’m curious to see the effect Shakeology has on supporting my health and fitness goals.  Now I’m off to make a high calorie, well balanced meal so that I am fueled up and ready to BRING IT tomorrow.
