A lot of people wonder if Tony Horton is vegan. Here’s an excerpt which may help to answer that question:
Horton calls himself a “Flexitarian”, which means that he eats mostly a plant-based diet 90% of the time but will have the occasional fish, eggs or free-range, organic chicken if he is out and about and there are no other options. Otherwise, he keeps it clean; very little sugar (only in the form of agave, honey or brown rice syrup), no gluten, no dairy, very minimal processed foods and tons of WHOLE, FRESH food!
This recipe is also featured in Tony Horton’s new book:
It is possible to do P90X if you are vegan, just make sure you are eating properly. This newsletter shares info on how to alter the P90X nutrition plan if you are vegan: Going Vegan, P90X Style
Fun fact: the Old Spice guy works out with Tony Horton and follows Tony’s vegan, gluten free diet. Last year he was on the Tonight Show and shared,
“I’m lucky to workout with Tony Horton of P90x fame. He’s got me on this diet right now that’s absolutely ridiculous. There are 5 things you can’t do: There’s no alcohol; no caffeine; no processed sugars; nothing with a face — no animals or animal byproducts; but here’s the tough one: no gluten.”
I’d say he’s in pretty great shape. Here’s just one of the commercials he appears in:
In the clip below, the statistic is given that about 25% of people drop their resolutions in the first week! YIKES!
If you are seriously committed to your resolution(s) and want to make significant change in your life, stick with it! It may be tough at first, but if you can stick with it for 30 days it will become a new habit.
One resolution I know that many people drop is exercise. They go and sign up at the gym at the beginning of January very motivated and ‘ready’ to make a change. But they get to the gym and have no idea what to do or how to put a solid workout together that will move them in the direction of their goals. (I know this because I have been there many times myself.) Plus, after having to drive to get there you then have to wait for equipment to be available.
This did not work for me and I assume does not work for many others. So we stop going. And that’s it… resolution gone.
But with Beachbody home programs like P90X and Insanity (discussed in the video below) you know exactly what workout to do on what days, what you should (or shouldn’t) be eating and how to put it all together. Plus, you don’t have to leave your house to do it! You can pop in the DVD and press play any time you want. No having to wait for an elliptical machine or treadmill or nautilus machine or free weights.
It’s so convenient that it’s almost impossible to make an excuse to not work out.

No matter what your resolution, stick with it!! You CAN make a positive change in your life.
People make so many different excuses for not exercising. I would like to briefly talk about the excuse: “I’m too overweight.” (I actually have heard this before.)
Unless there is an accompanying medical condition where your doctor has restricted exercise, you can start somewhere. Maybe it’s not jumping right into P90X like Dallas Carter who lost 190 pounds (see video below). Maybe it’s starting with Power 90 (which is like P90X lite) or Tony and the Folks like Victoria LaDuke did to lose 100 pounds. The point is, you can start somewhere.
Another excuse that goes hand in hand with this one is ‘Because I’m overweight I’m not comfortable going to the gym.’ These programs bust that excuse because you do all of these in the privacy of your own home. If the first few times you exercise and can’t complete the entire workout, it doesn’t matter. If you are out of breath or struggling to do all the reps, it doesn’t matter. There’s no one there watching what you can and can’t do. You can press pause as much as you need to and take breaks as needed. As long as you stick with it, you will eventually be able to do more and more.
Just start somewhere!

It’s success stories like these that make me proud to say that I am a Beachbody Coach. My passion is to help support the inherent, natural healing process that we all possess. Watch how Cammie, a mother of 3, overcame great adversity to combat the debilitating symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis. With P90X, Shakeology, and the support of her loving family, she found the strength and hope she desperately needed.
At 52 years old, Bob lost 47 pounds and 6 inches off his waist. Using Shakeology to help fuel his P90X workouts, he has also been able to stop taking his high blood pressure medicine and his anti-depressants. But most importantly, I feel, is that he is doing this with his son. That’s a beautiful thing.

My favorite P90X workout has to be Kenpo X. I have probably done this workout more than any of the others. It’s not as high impact or as physically intense as the Plyometrics workout (or others for that matter) but it’s a great cardio routine that gets my heart rate up, gets me sweating, and helps me burn off stress. I also find it helps me get rid of anger and other emotions.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an angry person and do not have anger issues. It is very, VERY rare that I yell or even raise my voice. However, on some level there are little things that get to me and may even build up over time. It’s good to have the opportunity to get those out every now and then. That is what Kenpo X does for me at times.
Kenpo X is about an hour long workout that is filled with punches, kicks, and blocks. As the workout progresses it builds different combinations of up to four moves. It moves fast and throwing all those punches and kicks feels pretty good.
About 40 minutes into it, I start to fade a bit. It’s exhausting. And right around this time is when I need to dig deep and find that place in me where I can go on and finish. This is often where my stored emotions make their way to the surface. I begin to access ‘stuff’ that I have held onto for one reason or another. It may be situations I have been involved in, people I have had interactions with, or even sometimes things I have done/said that I may not be happy about. I allow these to come into my conscious awareness where I find the energy and strength to start punching and kicking the hell out them.
It’s incredibly therapeutic.
I know that’s not the immediate intention of the workout but for me it happens, and becomes part of my overall fitness/health routine. As I discussed in a previous post (Allowing Myself to be In It) it’s not good to hang on to negative emotions as it could have a long term effect on one’s health. It feels really great to get this stuff out.
What about you? Do you have a workout that gets you going and helps you burn off stress and negative emotions?
