Shakeology Proven to Have Low Glycemic Index

Taste the success. Shakeology® is officially certified on the low end of what’s already considered “low” on the Glycemic Index (GI). That’s a whole lotta low to love!

If you’re not familiar with the GI, it’s basically a scale of 1 to 100 that measures how much or how quickly a particular food causes your blood sugar to rise. The higher the number, the higher the blood sugar “spike,” and ultimately, the worse the crash. Type 2 diabetes can be a product of too many high-GI foods. So as you can see, this is serious business.

Anything lower than a 55 is considered low GI. Shakeology rang up a score of 24. That’s lower than most fruits and veggies, thanks in part to the fact that Shakeology uses naturally-occurring sugar rather than that high fructose corn syrup stuff made from genetically-modified corn.

P90X: Yoga X Gets Yoga Teacher Approval

Just wanted to share with you what a good friend had to say about the P90X Yoga X workout. He just recently started the program but had not yet completed Yoga X. I told him I was curious to hear his thoughts as he is a yoga instructor. So, he tried it the other day and sent me this brief message:

I did yoga x last night, or should I say yoga x-cellent!!! It was fantastic. As a yoga teacher, I didn’t feel I would get too much out of it. It was great. Followed that with ab ripper x. And man am I feeling it today. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yoga X is a 90 minute workout that fits in to the overall P90X workout once per week. It is about 45 minutes of moving asanas then 45 minutes of a mixture of balance postures, flexibility, and core work. I have enjoyed it from day one and have found it to be a good challenge; but was curious if it would be as challenging for someone who really practices yoga. So, it was great to hear from this friend.

Friend Loses 10 Pounds in 2 Weeks

Shortly after I became an Independent Coach for Beachbody, an old friend contacted me about getting in shape. We messaged each other for a bit and she looked over the different programs available. She decided on TurboFire and began the program two weeks ago.

She gave me another update yesterday. In total she has lost 10 pounds in just two weeks using the TurboFire program. She is already one quarter of the way to her weight loss goal in just two weeks!! And she loves the program so it’s been fun. I am so excited for her.

My decision to become an Independent Coach was based on my progress using P90X. I personally discovered that real people really do get real results using these home fitness programs. I wanted to share that with my friends and help them to also get in the best shape of their lives. So, this update made me very happy.

I look forward to hearing so many other success stories as more of my friends make the decision to take charge of their health and fitness and join my Beachbody team.

Personal Push-Up Victory

Yesterday was day 71 of my P90X journey. The workout for the day was Chest & Back and Ab Ripper X. When I started the program back on May 3, this was the first workout I completed. It was ugly! I had to do all the push-ups on my knees and still couldn’t finish the entire workout.

Sometime last year, I had read about some program that helped you reach 100 push-ups per day over the course of 6 weeks. I almost tried it, but didn’t care for the fact that it was just standard push-ups.  I feel muscles should be targeted in various ways. This is a more realistic way of how we use our muscles day to day. We don’t  move constantly in one direction, so don’t train your muscles that way. Plus, I NEVER thought I’d reach 100 push-ups in a day.

With the P90X Chest & Back workout, there are 6 different types of push-ups (2 sets of each) over the course of the hour. And some of them are tough! But it’s good.

Over a two month period my push-ups numbers increased and I have come into full, proper form (off my knees).  It’s been tough and I’ve been pushing myself. But last week when I hit 90 push-ups, I knew a personal milestone was on the horizon. So, yesterday before my workout, I set my goal …. and reached it:

100 push-ups

I was psyched.  I actually did 104. The extra 4 came from me being so pumped about hitting 100 I had to do a few more. I was on my own little high for the rest of the day.

100 push-ups may not be a lot to some people; but for me, it’s practically unbelievable. If you read my story then you know I was never an athlete or into fitness. In high school when we had to do the President’s Physical Fitness test, I was a mess. And it was always embarrassing. How can they expect you to excel at these tests when they don’t help you train for them? How does dodgeball, volleyball, or ping pong help me to do pull-ups, sit-ups, or run a mile? Seriously?!? (I’m sure I’ll emote more on this in the future.) But none of that mattered yesterday.

I did it because I believed that I finally could. I did it because I have been dedicated to my health and fitness every day for 71 days. I did it because no one else is going to do it for me. I did it because I wanted to push myself to set a goal, crush it, and be proud of my accomplishment. And I am SO proud of myself!

I’m giving myself some time to celebrate and smile and be proud, but don’t think that I’m not already looking ahead to hitting 200 push-ups in an hour …..

My Story Page Updated

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have posted My Story. It’s a brief look at where I have come from and what lead me to P90X and Team Beachbody. I finally publicly talk about some stuff that many people don’t know about me and may be a little surprised to read. But, it is my story and these topics should not be left out.

It is my hope that others will see where I have come from and why my journey with this program has been so life changing for me. And, yes, I do hope that others in similar situations will read it and in some little way begin to believe that they too can start to transform their lives for the positive.

I still have quite a ways to go to reach my goals. But it’s been only a couple of months and so far I’m very pleased with my progress and so proud of myself for taking this step.

P90X: Day 60

It’s really hard for me to believe that I am here … Day 60 … Holy cow!

Three months ago if you had asked me if I ever saw myself working out every day, I would have said “NO WAY!” Two and a half months ago, I started searching online for advice about working out at home. I figured I could do some crunches, push-ups, chair dips, and maybe get one set of dumbbells for curls.

Sometime last year, a friend was thinking about getting P90X and I checked it out briefly; but the time wasn’t right. I forgot all about it until I started coming across it during my searches. It seemed pretty good. Then I saw the Infomercial. Yup. Sold. I went online and ordered the program. It arrived in time for me to start on the first Monday of May (May 3). Now here I am two months later with a new found love for fitness, nutrition and working out.

I went into today’s workout pretty sore from the past few days; I’ve been pushing myself a little harder now that I’ve gained some strength and can actually do all the moves. So I wasn’t sure how good the workout would be but I was not going to miss day 60! And today was Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X, one of my most challenging days.

Once I got going, I actually surprised myself. I ended up doing more pull-ups today than any previous workout and I burned 950 calories. It felt great. Plus, I was so pumped that the endorphins flowed and the soreness faded. A GREAT day 60 workout. (I hope to update pictures this weekend)

Now I’m on the home stretch for round 1 of P90X. I can’t see myself stopping anytime soon. This is a life changing program and I can’t thank Tony Horton and Beachbody enough for creating this amazing program and giving me the tools and support I need to succeed.

I am so proud of myself!
